We a little over two weeks away from the U.S release of Disney’s live action remake of The Lion King. The boys have been watching the animated version almost daily. Meanwhile, I have been obsessively checking for any inside looks we can sneak at the new version. We are in full pridelands mode in our house! One of the things that I love that have come out of these latest movie remakes is the amazing campaigns. The #FriendLikeMe challenge helped make a wish, and so it only makes sense that Disney would partner with an initiative to protect wildlife. Check out the amazing project they are working on to #ProtectthePride. But, if you are only here for The Lion King activity sheets feel free to scroll to the end.
About Protect the Pride & The Lion Recovery Fund
The Lion King #ProtectThePride focuses on protecting and revitalizing the lion population, which has been halved over the past 25 years due to a variety of threats including poaching and destruction of habitats. The campaign celebrates the release of Disney’s groundbreaking live-action feature film helmed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King, which opens in U.S. theaters on July 19, 2019.
The Lion Recovery Fund was created by the Wildlife Conservation Network, in partnership with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, to double the number of lions in Africa, to restore the lion population to what it was 25 years ago. In recovering lions, LRF also aims to restore the health of their landscapes and all that they provide for the communities that share them.
The Lion King Family Activity Packet
Much like the activity packet that Disney shared for Disneynature Penguins, these activity sheets go beyond coloring pages. If your little one is a nature/animal lover this packet is perfect for them. You have the opportunity to “meet the animals” in real life, share your motto and explore nature together. This particular activity packet is perfect for families and I recommend downloading before the movie. It will give you an opportunity to introduce the animals to your children before they see them in “live action”.
About The Lion King
Disney’s “The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.
