To The Introverted Mama With the High-Energy Child

I see you.

I see you wanting to crawl into yourself and hide as a stranger makes small talk with you about how cute and happy your kid is. I know you hate it. But the very sight of your child bounding around in public is enough to make any stranger smile, stop and ask questions, and leave you hanging there in enough seconds of awkward silence to make you want to click your heels together three times and disappear. I know its hard.

Introverts don’t do small talk!

I hear you.

Not literally of course. But your silence speaks volumes. Your little is loud enough for the both of you anyway. And I know you’re spending a good portion of your day wondering if your little person needs to make noise and be in contact with people ALL DAY. As exciting as it is for them it’s draining for you.

You enjoy being alone.

I get it.

That after a long day of running, and screaming, and crying you just. need. time. And the little person you take care of is saying mommy for the 200th time….. that hour. You’re not sure if you’re going to make it. Patience is almost gone, and then the guilt comes. Because as much as you need time to get yourself together you feel bad that you can’t be more excited for them. It feels impossible.

You need time to recharge.

I feel you. I am you. We got this.

A Whole New Way to Experience Santa! – Santa HQ Queens Center Mall

My family and I were invited to an exclusive preview of Santa HQ in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

If you know me, you know I LOVE Christmas. I count down the days until next Christmas starting December 26th, its that real. I love everything about the holiday and when I had RJ I couldn’t wait until he was old enough to take pictures with Santa.

HGTV has REALLY stepped up the Santa experience and made the dreaded wait in the mall line worth it! Santa HQ takes you through an interactive experience which allows kids to be scanned at the Naughty or Nice O’Meter, check out Santa’s world through special tablets and even download the Elf Ray Vision app to get a sneak peak at what Santa’s elves are working on in 3D in designated areas throughout Santa HQ.

The whole experience is truly amazing and we’ve been 2 years in a row now because kids are so hands on and the experience is WORTH IT! Check out some additional pictures below.

Santa HQ is open from November 10 through December 24 and is located on Level 2, Center Court. For hours, to make reservations, or how you can have breakfast with Santa check out all the information here

Are you taking pictures with Santa this year? Have you been to Santa HQ? As always, love your thoughts down below in the comments! xoxo

I LOVE Harry Potter But I’ll NEVER Go To Harry Potter Festival in Chestnull Hill

And when I say never I legit mean probably… NEVER.

You see this little human…

He decided (literally…. he wasn’t due for weeks) he wanted to be born on October 23rd.

Chestnut Hill’s annual Harry Potter festival falls on October 20th and 21st this year. Like every year, it’s on his birthday weekend and I just feel like I’d be a bad mom to let my fandom interfere with celebrating his life.

But since I can’t go, do you wanna know what goes down?

Fans of all ages can attend the festival on October 20th & 21st for two days of film screenings, scavenger hunts & more!

Some of the festival highlights include:

The Hogwarts Express and Opening Ceremony
Each year, the Hogwarts Express (a.k.a. SEPTA’s Chestnut Hill West regional rail line), has departed from Jefferson Station and making all regular stops to Chestnut Hill West. Also onboard? Harry Potter, Hermione, Ron and Dumbledore look-alikes to greet guests.

Quidditch Tournament
One of the main festival events is the 8th Annual Philadelphia Brotherly Love Cup Quidditch Tournament at Chestnut Hill College.

The tournament runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Admission to the tournament is completely free.

I wanna go, I wanna go, I wanna gooooooo! *stomps and slams the bathroom door*

For more info or to check out other events in the area make sure to check out Visit Philly. And maybe tell them to change the dates next year just for me? LOL

The Misadventures of the Rocket Ship Car

Thanks to Kia for providing the 2017 Kia Sportage for my family to review. All opinions expressed are my own, all shenanigans are solely RJ and Zayn’s.

When RJ was a baby he HATED car rides. When I say hated I mean I once had to sing the theme song to Little Einsteins over and over for 30 minutes straight while I drove home from a visit to GiGi’s house because that was the only thing that stopped him from screaming bloody murder. I prayed and prayed that Zayn wouldn’t go through that phase but alas, it’s arrived. You’d think that trying out a cute new SUV would make him appreciate our car rides a little more but nah, he’s ungrateful like that (joking! lol). RJ however, enjoyed our time in what he randomly called one day “the Rocket Ship Car” (Little Eintsteins stuck with him) and I like our car rides too until all hell breaks loose.

Don’t let the cute little sleeping face in the carseat fool you…. Zayn definitely has levels to the car ride turn up. A typical ride in the car where he wakes up usually goes something like this……..

*15 minutes into the smooth car ride… sleeping baby starts waking up… quiet grunting.. soft whine.. panic ensues from everyone else in the car on the inside but we can’t let him detect it.. this is LEVEL 1*

Me *In my ever so calm and probably too chipper voice* – “Hey Zayn, we’re almost there man. You were asleep? Everyone’s here with you!”

Zayn’s Inner Monologue – “WTF?! When did we get in here? Why can’t I see my brother? Mommy? Is that you? Where’s daddy??? Panic! PANNNNIIIIIIIC!

*Crying Starts…. LEVEL 2*

Me – “Hey man! You’re alright! We’re gonna get out soon.” *awkward arm reach to try to put the paci back in and pray it saves us all….. for a compact SUV this car is spacious*

Zayn – “I don’t want it! Stop! Where are you?!”

*Dodges pacifier… irritation builds…. cries get a little louder… LEVEL 3*

Me – You’re ok man! We’re getting out in 2 minutes! You’re alright! Wanna look out the window?? *tries rolling down window… opens sunroof*

The panoramic sun roof in the Kia Sportage is AMAZING! RJ loved it and this trick totally worked when he was a baby. This new kid however, doesn't give up so easily.

RJ *screaming from his seat because thats totally helpful* – Zayn! Be Ky-it! Be Ky-it! Be Ky-it!

Zayn – Oh GOD!!!!!!! Why am I still in here?!?! Why is he yelling at me??? Is that wind??? It’s cold! Help! HEEEELLLLLLLLLP!

*By now… we’ve reached the final level of turn up… shrieking ensues…. coughs… choking on saliva… the infant pulls out all the stops…. LEVEL 4*

My Inner Monologue (because at this stage trying to console is a moot point) – Oh God…. are we there yet? Why is the light red? Im about to cry too! It’s cool. I got this. Mother Mary, full of grace….. wait I’m not Catholic what am I talking about? Please let’s just get there.

At this point RJ usually has his fingers stuck in his ears or he’s fallen asleep trying to get his brother to be quiet… Zayn is in the back cursing us all out in full infant and I’m on the verge of my own tears and literally blasting the AC with the cooling seat on as high as possible so I don’t melt away from a panic sweat lmao.

This phase only lasted a few weeks with RJ so I’m hoping his brother grants us some grace and gets used to being in the car because we go out A LOT. Either way, the Kia Sportage was a great car to deal with some screaming in, RJ liked pushing buttons just as much as he did in the Sorento and I enjoyed the expanded cargo space for my random Target splurge sans children (because every trip to Target results in a random splurge doesn’t it?).

How did your baby like car rides? Any tips or tricks to help us out? Leave some in the comments below!
