Mickey: The True Original Brings the Disney Magic to NYC

I was invited by Disney to an early preview of Mickey: The True Original Exhibition as press. All opinions are my own.

Last week I told you guys that Mickey: The True Original was coming to NYC and yesterday I had a chance to get a sneak peak of the exhibit. I was hype especially coming off of watching Mickeys 90th Spectacular, so I was READY to be immersed into ALL things Mickey and Disney.

BABY!!!! These artists did not disappoint. Mickey: The True Original takes the interactive/pop up experience to the next level as only Disney can. With each room, the artists took their love for Mickey and created in a unique way that only they could. With something different in every room, the love for the birthday boy was evident in the recreation of timeless moments in Mickey’s history and modern takes on the mouse.

Each room brings you art from a different artist and you experience Mickey in new ways in every few steps. Along the way there are special moments too, like hidden Mickeys and a special treat once you get close to the end of the exhibit that you definitely don’t want to miss ;). Check out some more pictures from the exhibit below.

Mickey: The True Original Exhibition celebrates 90 years of Mickey Mouse’s influence on art and pop culture.

Opening in November 2018, this immersive experience is inspired by Mickey’s status as a ‘true original’ and his consistent impact on the arts and creativity in all its forms. Guests will have the chance to explore the 16,000 square-foot exhibition featuring both historic and contemporary work from renowned artists.”

Tickets for Mickey: The True Original can be purchased here. The exhibit is open November 8th, 2018 through February 2019 so you have plenty of time to make travel plans if you don’t live in New York. Trust me when I say, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss.

For more information follow @MickeyTrueOriginal on Instagram or check out the hashtag #MickeyTrueOriginal. To see even more sneak peeks from the exhibit follow me on Instagram @TanayMichele.

Will you be checking out Mickey: The True Original? How are you celebrating 90 years of Mickey? What’s your favorite Mickey memory?

Mickey is Bringing his 90th Birthday Celebration to NYC!

November 18th marks the iconic birthday of everyone’s favorite mouse! As you can expect the parks will be going ALL out for Mickey’s 90th with each park. They’ll all be hosting an array of different events and activities you can attend to show your appreciation for Mickey. Unfortunately here in NYC we haven’t been blessed with a Disney Park. Nevertheless, Disney is helping us to celebrate Mickey in a BIG WAY!

Mickey: The True Original Exhibition is NYCs latest immersive experience inspired by the mouse himself. Opening on November 8th, you will be able to view an array of Mickey inspired art in this 16000 square foot exhibit located in Manhattan. The exhibit promises to show you Mickey like you have never seen him before.

Will My Son Enjoy Disney’s The Nutcracker and The Four Realms? |No Spoiler Review|

My family and I attended a free screening of Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. All opinions expressed are my own.

Last night my family got to see an advance screening of Disney’s newest movie The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. To say I was excited was an understatement and I waited anxiously to get off work ALL DAY. I had told RJ in advance that we were going to see the movie because I wanted to get him excited for it even though he was excited about getting to go to the movies in general. I showed him the trailer and waited for his reaction.

And then I asked excitedly “Do you wanna see that? And he was like… “Ummmm I wanna see The Grinch”. HA! Shut my little dreams down. But let’s remember he’s (newly) 4 and so cartoons are life. That’s all he knows. ANYWHO despite him wanting to see the Grinch and not giving a hoot about the trailer I showed him we ALL took ourselves to the screening last night.

Please excuse me for looking atrocious, I just came from work!

Ratings, Run Time and Synopsis

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is rated PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Is the Nutcracker and the Four Realms appropriate for younger children?

The movie is rated PG and I think that starts at age…. 7? I think the movie is true to rating. The scene where Clara and Phillip go to the Fourth Realm is a little dark and RJ told me he didnt like it and it was scary. If you have younger kids I would just be mindful of that scene. Other than that I think it’s appropriate.

So… will my son enjoy the movie?

So even though RJ completely played me when I showed him the trailer, he loved the movie (other than the scene I mentioned). When he got home from school today he asked me could he watch it on TV LOL. The movie is honestly amazing and great for all audiences. I think the best age would be elementary aged, any older or younger and they (the boys) may not be too interested. But all in all, your whole family will love this movie!

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms releases in theaters everywhere 11.02.18!
