The Year Ahead: List of Disney Movies Coming in 2019

2018 was such an amazing year at the movies! We had Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks the Internet and Mary Poppins, not to mention Black Panther, Infinity War and Ant Man. So much of my time last year was spent at the movies, and I got the opportunity to take my children to the movies a lot too which actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. That said, 2018 was great but 2019 is going to be LIT! Disney has an awesome lineup of movies set to start being released in just a few short months and I already know we are going to be spending EVEN MORE time at the movies this year. Check out everything coming to you in 2019 from Disney/Marvel Studios below. Continue Reading →

Should I Take My Toddler to See Ralph Breaks the Internet? | No Spoiler Review

My family and I attended an advanced screening of Ralph Breaks the Internet. All opinions expressed are my own.

In RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET, video-game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) leave the comforts of Litwak’s arcade in an attempt to save her game, Sugar Rush. Their quest takes them to the vast, uncharted world of the internet where they rely on the citizens of the internet—the Netizens—to help navigate their way. Lending a virtual hand are Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), the head algorithm and the heart and soul of the trend-making site “BuzzzTube,” and Shank (voice of Gal Gadot), a tough-as-nails driver from a gritty online auto-racing game called Slaughter Race, a place Vanellope wholeheartedly embraces—so much so that Ralph worries he may lose the only friend he’s ever had.

I waited six years for this movie and it was definitely worth the wait! I contemplated long and hard about taking the boys to see  Wreck it Ralph 2. Neither of them were even born when the first one came out, and they weren’t even about to appreciate it the same way I did! But I decided to be a “good mom” and take them with us, even though it’s a school night and now it is WAY passed their bedtime. From one toddler mom to another, here’s what I thought.

How long is the movie?

The run time for Ralph Breaks the Internet is 1 hour and 54 minutes. It’s a little long, and just like with Smallfoot RJ started to get restless. If you time it for the right time of day, and follow my recommendations in my Smallfoot review, you should be fine. We went close to bedtime which probably wasn’t the best idea.

Are there any parts of the movie I should worry about?

I think this movie is pretty safe. There were a couple parts of the movie that got a little loud, but it didn’t seem to bother RJ or Zayn. There weren’t any dark or scary scenes or any thing that he seemed to be afraid of. He did mention that he didn’t like the “bad guy” at the end of the movie but I think that was more creepy than scary.

Will we ALL enjoy the movie?

Our whole family enjoyed the movie. It’s a sequel that is definitely worth the watch. The princess scene was more than I imagined it would be and I love that Disney incorporates so many important lessons within their movies. The lesson about friendship resonated with me even at 28. Everyone can learn something from Ralph and Vanellope.  All in all we all gasped, laughed and loved this movie together. It was a hit for our whole family.

The Live-Action DUMBO Trailer Premiered #DUMBO

I am convinced that Disney has dedicated 2019 to us millennials! You guys already know how I feel about Aladdin, then the teaser and reaction trailers for Toy Story debuted earlier this week, and now DUMBO. I can’t lie, DUMBO was the first trailer that made me feel STRONG emotions. Talk about taking it back! I don’t know if the movie being a live action movie made it feel all the more real, but I got choked up watching the trailer! I can remember the emotions I felt watching DUMBO as a kid and these mama hormones/emotions had me in my feelings last night.

Listen y’all, I was so caught up in DUMBO and these kids in the trailer that I had to watch it 3 or 4 times to even notice the rest of the cast. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, check it out below.

If that trailer didn’t make you feel anything then you have no emotions! Anyway, with all these awesome movies coming out next year I am fully prepared for the rollercoaster of emotions Disney is ready to take me through. I honestly am more excited than ever for 2019 because I know it’s going to be SO good. I can’t wait to see what’s next. Still waiting on those Lion King confirmations/sneak peeks (we’re waiting for you Bey!).

What movie (Disney or not) are you most looking forward to in 2019? Are you excited about DUMBO?

Toy Story 4 Teaser Trailer and My Initial Thoughts – #ToyStory4

I love waking up to good news! This morning the teaser trailer for Toy Story 4 dropped and before I even watched I was a ball of emotions. I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry or scream from excitement. I just watched the trailer and held my breath.

Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.

My Thoughts:

This teaser trailer had me CRACKING UP. I love Forky’s story, and I love that Woody is always confident in his purpose. I immediately felt nostalgic watching this. “Somebody get him before he puts an eye out!” made me literally laugh out loud and took me right back to Andy’s room. I cannot wait to see how Woody and the old toys find their place with Bonnie. I’m sure Forky’s “internal” struggle of whether to fulfill their purpose as a spork or a toy is going to keep Woody and Buzz PLENTY busy. All in all I’m excited to see the new story unfold. 2019 is looking to be a nostalgic year for us 90s babies in terms of Disney! I’m excited to watch all the magic happen!

How did the new trailer make you feel? Are you excited about Toy Story 4?
